2016 Modellraketenseminar 2 - Dr. Alfred Kappl

TRAINING

Sharing Knowledge

Since 1999, I have been training pyrotechnicians and certified blasting engineers — hands-on and backed by over 30 years of my own experience.

Initially alongside my work as a professor of chemistry at the Higher Federal Technical College and Research Institute in Vienna/Leberstraße, I have been conducting this training since 2011 through my involvement with SCT Special Chemical Trading KG — together with professional partners from science and industry.

New! Rocket Seminar

Development history up to the present day
Specially designed for those interested in the defense sector

A one-day seminar offering insight into the chemistry of rocket propulsion, including systems based on LOX, hydrogen peroxide, nitrous oxide, UDMH/HNO3, HTPB/ammonium perchlorate, and black powder. The propulsion chemistry is presented theoretically, ranging from fireworks and hail defense rockets to hypersonic rockets and nuclear propulsion. In line with the current global situation, the seminar also includes a lecture on missile defense and ballistic missiles by Austria’s most renowned expert in the field, Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Peter Sequard-Base.

Blasting License Training – Basic Course

The basic course for general blasting operations is held by me on average once a year and qualifies participants to independently carry out blasting work. The course is aimed primarily at practitioners who work professionally with explosives.

  • Duration: 9 working days, 80 teaching units

  • Written and oral examination;

  • Number of participants: 6–15 people

Key topics: understanding explosives — mechanisms of action and application challenges, special blasting techniques using specialty explosives, metal and demolition blasting. Topics such as linear cutters (flexible and rigid), homemade shaped charges, interference charges, and various types of remote controlled ignition. Complex content made practical and easy to understand.

  • Course location: RangeIsclear GmbH, Himberg near Vienna
    Open in Google Maps

  • Next course in spring 2028

  • Requirements: minimum 21 years, governmental clearance according to Austrian law, medical certificate

  • Advance registration at: office@energeticmaterials.at

Also available: Hail Defense Rocket Course (historical, on request, 3 hours) — for damage prevention in wine-growing regions
